Bestandsaufnahme #10 - Gente en Uniforme
1) In Mendoza people follow strict rules of gentlemanliness when it comes to getting on the bus. A small row of men will form on the side, waiting until every women at the stop has boarded. Women in uniform also let other women pass. I assume uniformed men stand way back and wait for all non-uniformed passengers to pass, be they men or women. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to observe the hierarchy between uniformed men and uniformed women or between women in uniform and men en civíl.
2) The police has many types of transportation. They have big traffic trucks, quick little cars and badass motorcycles. Badass motorcycles are rare; cute little scooters are much more common. Sometimes, police appear looking either traditional on horseback or super modern on Bianchi bicycles. The bicycle police ride around the park in pairs and would be hard to tell apart from the sport cyclists if it weren’t for their bullet-proof vests. Sometimes I wonder whether officers get put on bike rotation when they get flabby from eating too many alfajores (possible Argentine equivalent to donuts).
